PROFESSOR at Department  of GEOLOGICAL ENGINEERING

In 1972 I chose to follow the mysterious path of the water from the sky till the depths of Earth structures. Following groundwater, since then until now, with passion and interest and never disappointed: incredible adventures and ongoing challenges of the most presious essence of the Earth.

Currently i am the president of Romanian Association of Hydrogeologists (www.ahgr.ro).

My research are devoted primarily to HYDROGEOLOGY the science of the groundwater:

• parameter initiation of numerical models for local and regional aquifers;
• transport of pollutants in saturated and unsaturated soils;
• uncertainty of numeric models for groundwater flow and transport of pollutants;
• design for tapping of groundwater and protection area.

For my hydrogeological research i am using GEOSTATISTICS a powerful tool of great utility for:

• design of monitoting network and georeferences databases (using ARCGIS)
  
• construction of 3D structures (using GSLIB, ROCKWORKS, PETREL etc.)
• stochastic models for geological processes

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSEMENT is the field where HYDROGEOLOGY and GEOSTATISTICS are applied and useful:

• management of environmental data;
• studies for environmental impact assesement;
  • impact of water supply;
  • impact of waste disposal;
  • impact of greenhouse gases and storage of CO₂
  • impact of coal and oil exploitation
