The course of Globalization
and Intercultural Communication, a continuation of a series started in
2001 with the Discourses of Postcoloniality: United States and Central,
Eastern Europe, will explore the history and rationality behind major
ideological, religious and political conflicts in the world and the relations
between ideology, religion, politics and language. It will also attempt to
imagine possible diverse, democratic and just futures, free from the calamities
of the past. An international team of scholars will lead the discussion in
the following modules of the course: Translation and the Limits of Globalization;
Globalization: Economic Modernization versus Cultural Diversity; Modernity,
Globalization, and Transnational Urban Imageries; Geopolitics and the Analysis
of Conflict in the Global Age; Globalization and Intercultural Dialogue:
Conflicts and Challenges; Globalization of America and Americanization of
the Globe: Perceptions and Perspectives in the Post-Communist World.
