This School addresses one of the most topical issues in the study of transition economies – areas, functions and strategies of government regulation and the correlation of government regulation with the processes of open economy. It attempts to consolidate the experience of prominent academics from the region and Western Europe who focus their teaching and policy-oriented research on the issues of interaction between the interests and needs of the society, the state and the market. The School aims to develop and provide the participants with a broad coherent and analytical framework for understanding the issues of government regulation of the economy, and increasing the participants’ understanding of the monetary and Keinesian approaches to monetary and credit regulation, and business regulation system. Equal focus is given to improving the professional skills of the young faculty participants and providing them with new methods and strategies for teaching in this important developing discipline.
