The Summer School focuses on comparative political research on political parties, electoral systems and electoral behavior, with a strong emphasis on methodology. The first week will focus on comparative political analysis (issues and methods) and electoral behavior, while in the second week the participants can choose between two courses: one on political parties and one on institutional design in new democracies. All courses are intended to serve as examples of systematic and state-of-the-art treatment of these topics. By the conclusion of the School, the participants should have a better-developed grasp of various approaches and theories, central to effective teaching of contemporary political science, and should become better equipped methodologically.
