The Summer School Political Theory & Philosophy focuses on theoretical and methodological issues of Political Science, as well as curriculum design and teaching methods in political science. The combination and sequence of the courses follows the logic of political science: Models of Democracy takes a historical perspective, offering comparative analysis of models and implications of theoretical knowledge for political analysis. 20th Century Political Philosophy reviews prominent contemporary western philosophers and their ideas. The Varieties of Social Explanations concerns the ways of understanding and description of politics. The coursework will be complemented by a workshop in Excellence in Teaching which will aid the participants’ search for the most relevant and effective methods of teaching Political Science.
