The Center for Independent Journalism (CIJ) offers a summer training program aimed at junior academics who teach in journalism schools in the region. The objective of the Summer School is twofold: to provide young faculty with a deeper knowledge of their teaching field through courses that can represent models of content, and train faculty in modern teaching methods through the use of interactive methods, promoting open critical discussion, and stimulating independent learning. Courses will be taught by US and local academics, and the approach of the School will be collaborative, interactive and hands-on. Participants will be asked to develop syllabi, practice modern teaching skills, and exchange experience with their colleagues in the region. The program of the School will be also include meetings with media professionals, social and cultural events and field trips.
