This session builds upon
the successful experience of the 1st Tirana Summer School in
Political Science and International Relations (2000). The courses on Democratic
Institutions, Positive Political Theory, and Research Methods in Political
Science will address some of the immediate needs of development of political
science as a discipline in the Balkan region and Albania, in particular in
terms of developing curricula and training faculty. The courses, taught by
international teams of resource persons (USA, Turkey, Hungary, Albania),
demonstrate a variety of approaches, sources and methodologies of teaching
in the field, and establish working models of cooperation between academics
of various levels and affiliations as related to course development, teaching
and extracurricular work.
