This Summer School aims
to assist Central Asian journalism faculty to improve their teaching skills
and update their knowledge of journalism practices in countries in transition.
Part one of the course opens the discussion on changing teaching methods
and updating journalism curricula. In detail, it provides training on new
teaching methods that involve interactive learning suited more to the field
of journalism. Emphasis is on curriculum development and intensive workshops
on developing courses and programs that respond better to the individual
needs of each country and institution. Part two focuses on specific areas
of journalism practices. It aims to improve the instructors' skills in teaching
alternative models of Civic and Development Journalism, as well as political
reporting, essential for the democratic development of Central Asian countries.
