Department Of Private Law

The Private Law Department of the Law Faculty has a staff of 36 active teachers and 4 consultant teachers.


The taught courses provided by our stuff cover all of the subjects traditionally included on the syllabus of private law: civil law, copyright law, commercial law, family law, employment and welfare law, private international law, international commercial law, competition law, international protection of human rights law, comparative social law, civil procedure etc.


Besides the compulsory corpus, undergraduate students are also offered the possibility to concentrate on subjects of their own choosing, grouped in alternative packages of study areas such as: the judicial organization of prosecutor's offices, bars and notary public's offices, competition law, the law of civil and commercial insurance, European labour law, community business law, notaries public and real estate adverstising. Let us mention just one of the optional courses currently on offer : Protection of Consummer Rights Law.


A merger of rich teaching experience and academic research lies at the roots of a solid reputation built on vast range of treatises, monographs, works of commented and referenced law, articles, papers and a variety of other written work dealing cases presented and carried by specialised magazines at home and abroad.


Another direction our staff are engaged with is their active participation with papers of high academic standing in conferences, symposia and various other subject-based meetings both in Romania and the world over.


Among the memebers of our staff, of paricular note is Professor Ion FILIPESCU, Member of the Romanian Academy, and so is the high academic worth of the professors, consultant professors and readers on our staff, most of whom are PhD supervisors and directors of a full range of postgraduate research centers sponsored by our faculty.


Most of Private Law Department teaching staff bring a continuing practical dimension to bear on their theoretical pursuits, the result of which is the participation of some of them in institutionalised form in drafting legislation, legal consultancy, couts of justice, domestic and international arbitrage and litigation in their capacity as members of the Bar.
