The linguistic areas included in the research priorities of the Department of Romanian Language are: phonology, morphology, syntax, lexicology and semantics, history of the Romanian language, ethymology, dialectology, general linguistics, stylistics, and pragmatics. All levels of language and to various regional and socio-cultural varieties are subjected to analysis, from a synchronic or diachronic point of view, and often from a contrastive perspective (comparing Romanian with other languages).
