Department Of European Cultural Studies

The University department of european cultural studies has functioned as an autonomous department within the framework of the Faculty of Letters since 1998-99. Its existence is a sign of the reform and modernisation of the Romanian higher education system, in line with the evolution of contemporary Romania towards European integration. In this context, the department offers a new degree programme, of 4 years. It seeks to train modern, professional cultural managers, specialised in European cultural issues, with a solid grounding in history, law, information technology and foreign languages. Graduates of this degree programme will be the future professionals in specialised institutions in culture, education and diplomacy, capable of properly administration in the cultural field in the light of current European realities, and responding to the needs arising from the process of European integration. The syllabus is conceived in response to these needs. It contains a number of core courses and obligatory or optional complementary courses, to offer an extensive training capable of responding to the choices and study interests of a great number of students. Students also have the option of preparing for a teaching career, by attending teacher-training courses.
