The members of the Department of World History make up a very active research and teaching team. As a result of the activities of its sub-groups working on historiography and history of mentalities, Byzantium, the Ottoman Empire, and Euro-Atlantic integration, it has come to be regarded as a centre of reference for universities throughout the country. The department and its members closely co-operate with universities elsewhere in Europe, and occupy management positions in international organisations in their field. The department has a young and exceptionally well-trained teaching staff; 14 of them have Doctorates in History, and the remainder are all nearing the dissertation stage of their doctoral theses.
