The Department of Modern Languages has the role of teaching English and French in all the faculties with a non-philological profile. Its staff has attended courses in the teaching of foreign languages for special purposes, thanks to the British Council and the French Institute. They are active in research and publication, and are currently engaged in the preparation of mini-dictionaries of specialised terminology (English-Romanian and French-Romanian).
The department now has distinct headquarters of its own, equipped with logistics and props (textbooks, tapes, photo-copier) that provide the audio-visuals needed to teach foreign languages.
