The Department of Historical Theology is the 'youngest' department, in terms of its membership. Its staff have studies in universities including: Strasbourg, Thessalonika, Birmingam, and Freiburg im Breisgan. They teach disciplines such as: world church history; history of the Romanian Orthodox Church; patrology and post-patristic Christian literature; Byzantine history and spirituality; Christian art; Byzantine painting.
