The Electricity and Biophysics Department is divided into four teams: biophysics, electricity, electronics, and metrology. The staff of these four teams carry out both teaching and research activity.
The department provides general courses in electricity and magnetism, electricity and electrotechnics, electronic devices and circuits, for all degree programmes in the faculty, and optional courses in biophysics, electronic physics and metrology. It also organises three Master's degree programmes, in Electronics, Biophysics, and Medical Physics and a postgraduate studies programme in Metrology. Through the European ERASMUS programme, its students and staff are offered placements in leading laboratories abroad.

Nanometric electronics
Electrophysical properties of subtle semiconductor layers, based on organic and inorganic compounds.
Conversion of solar energy into electrical energy.
Computer assisted modeling.
Stocked ions.
Non-destructive defectoscopy.
Metrological standards.
The results of research have been presented in numerous publications and conference papers, both in Romania and abroad.
The department has proposed the creation of a new research centre in the molecular biophysics. This project is currently in the process of evaluation.
