The Department of Optics-Spectroscopy-Plasma-Lasers of the Faculty
of Physics ensures the general course of Optics for all students of the second
year of study as well as a series of courses for the specializing direction O.S.P.L.:
Spectroscopy and lasers, Coherent Optics, Plasma Physics and applications,
Physics and Techniques of Lasers, Atomic and molecular spectroscopy, Optical
measurements: data acquisition and numerical simulation, Interferometry and
polarimetry, Spectroscopy of condensed matter, Plasma kinetics, Optical
processing and transmission of information, Liquid crystals, Technologies
with plasma, Optical radiometry.
The principal research areas of the department are:
1) The study of light modulation for transmission of the polarisation optical
information.
2) The study of spectral sources of discharges presenting catodic effects
in biatomic molecular gases.
3) New sources of reflexive plasma of high density for material processing
and termonuclear fusion; theorie, experiments and diagnosis.
4) Study of the transition metal ions in different host lattices.
