This centre functions with the Department of the History of the Romanians. It was founded in 2000 and is co-ordinated by Professor Ioan SCURTU.
The objectives of the centre are:
to further research into 20th century Romanian and world history ;
to involve undergraduates, doctoral students and teaching staff in activities aimed at improving knowledge of 20th century history on the basis of documents.
The activities of the centre consist of: supporting courses and seminars by providing specialists and materials; organising debates and conferences with local and international participation; producing monographic works and collections of studies and documents; publishing new works in the field.
The centre maintains collaboration relationships with relevant organisations in Romania and abroad, with a view to exchanges of experience and documentation on 20th century history. The activities of the centre involve students, teaching staff, researchers, archivists, museum specialists, and other interested in the history of the 20th century.
