PROTMED is a research and development unit with autonomy in organization, exploitation and use of financial resources and materials subordinated to the University of Bucharest.
PROTMED was founded in 1996 and have been appeared as a requirement of research and development inside of the university, in environmental protection field. It appeared in a frame based on a flexible structure which can permit to construct the interdisciplinary teams. These teams include teaching staff, researchers, Ph.D. students and students.
The activity of PROTMED is organized in three fundamental departments: research, services and training; the services department includes a special sector of quality control with two laboratories: environmental monitoring and control and analyses and trials for foods quality control, both being accredited.
PROTMED acquired a modern technical and material base and the research areas are very dynamic and according with market requirements, being permanently completed with new fields and specializations. PROTMED give a special attention to the research activities associated with master and doctoral programs as an integrant part of several research projects, in the frame of national and international programs.
