Canadian Studies Centre

The Centre of Canadian Studies was founded in 1996 at the University of Bucharest, as a result of the collaboration among the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Journalism and Communication Studies, Faculty of Sociology and Social Work, Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences. From 1997, the collaboration has taken a more definite shape and has intensified through the interdisciplinary Master’s degree programme in Canadian Studies. The programme has benefited from the support of the Canadian government, in the form of the present collection of books the centre’s library is endowed with, and of fellowships for foreign academics invited to deliver talks and courses and lectures at the centre.


Thematic directions:

  • Canadian cultural studies, Francophone and Anglophone;
  • Anthropology and communication;
  • Feminism and mass-media;
  • Interdisciplinary research techniques;
  • Interethnic studies: multiculturalism in Canada.
