The Centre of Canadian Studies was founded in 1996 at
the University of Bucharest, as a result of the collaboration among the Faculty
of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Journalism and Communication Studies,
Faculty of Sociology and Social Work, Faculty of Psychology and Education
Sciences. From 1997, the collaboration has taken a more definite shape and
has intensified through the interdisciplinary Master’s degree programme
in Canadian Studies. The programme has benefited from the support of the
Canadian government, in the form of the present collection of books the centre’s
library is endowed with, and of fellowships for foreign academics invited
to deliver talks and courses and lectures at the centre.
