The Institute covers the entire range of classical philology (linguistics, literature, philosophy, history) with possible extensions to Byzantine studies. Given that they are not scholars employed by the centre, the teaching staff is recruited function of their participation, actual or potential, in the research work carried out by the Institute:

Thematic directions:

• Compiling a specialized library;
• Organizing viva voces with specialists from Bucharest, Cluj, Geneva, Tirana;
• Finalizing a Greek-Romanian Dictionary elaborated at the Linguistics Institute of the Academy.
