Faculty of Sociology and Social Work

The Faculty of Sociology and Social Work trains specialists in the social sciences through its two 4-year first degree programmes, one 3-year college programme, 6 1 year and œ Master's degree programmes, and doctoral studies programmes, in which over 150 doctoral candidates attend full-time and part-time courses.

The faculty pursues fundamental research programmes (projects or applications) in areas such as like social policy, sociology and social work, and publishes research reports and reviews, and a variety of other works directed at specialists, administrators and the general public.

The faculty collaborates with educational and research institutions in Romania and abroad; it also has collaboration relations with institutions abroad in the organisation and development of international educational and research programmes. The use of the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) is encouraged, as are academic exchanges and co-operation with similar institutions elsewhere.

The faculty maintains an open door to society through its facilities: resource centres, libraries, databases, research instruments and publications, which are available to institutions, practitioners and local communities.

The faculty promotes modern forms of education both in its mainstream programmes and in distance education.
