ACCESSIBILITY

 

Admission system based on submitting a dossier and sustaining an interview between 01.02.2004 – 21.05.2004

120 full-tuition places (subsidised by the national budget) and tuition-paying places for each department

Merit-based grants (honors and high-honors) and need-based scholarships

Scholarships abroad (via the Erasmus – Socrates and AUF programmes); over 70 scholarships yearly in: Belgium, France, Germany, Grece, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden.

A young and enthusiastic academic team (average age of 35)

Modern spaces for learning and study

Approximately 50 compulsory courses and about 100 optional courses, integrated in the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)

 

COSMOPOLITAN SYSTEM

 

Visiting Professors from universities in England, Belgium, Canada, France, India, US (Civic Education Project and Fulbright Commission)

Foreign students - grantees of the Romanian State (Moldova, Ukraine, Albania);

Foreign students without grant affiliation and paying full tuition (from Albania, Austria, Azerbadjan, Congo, France, Switzerland, Guineea, Iraq, Lebanon, Tunisia, Turkey, US, as well as

ERASMUS - SOCRATES scholarship students from Western universities.

Participation in national and regional student conferences (Balkan Debate Forum, CEP International Student Conference, Central and East European Moot Court) and summer schools.
Three departments, with courses taught respectively in Romanian, in French and in English, accredited by the National Academic Assessment and Accrediting Council.

 

DOCUMENTATION AND COMMUNICATION

 

Access to a library of over 12000 volumes in the specialised literature and over 30 collections of periodicals.

Access to electronic databases including over 1500 publications and 300.000 titles.

Electronic system for data management and communications, emphasizing protection of the students’ personal data (fspub.ro) and facilitating communications both with the secretarial staff and with the faculty members.

 

ACADEMIC PROSPECTS

 

Master’s programmes in Comparative Politics – Postcommunist Studies, Romanian Politics, International Relations, and Political Theory

Doctoral programmes organised within the Institute for Political Research, accredited as PhD Coordinating Institute by the National Academic Assessment Council for University Titles, Diplomas and Certificates

 

ALUMNI PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATION

 

40% are currently working in the private sector (capital market, financial and juridical audit offices, mass media, etc.);

35% work as experts within central and local public institutions (Romanian Presidency, Romanian Parliament, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defense, Governmental Departament of Public Information, The National Bank of Romania, town halls etc.);

18% of the alumni take up positions in the higher education system and in institutes for academic research, attending postgraduate studies;

7% of the alumni are employed as consultants by various political parties and organisations.
