Communication And Public - Distance education

The Department of Communication and Public Relations (DCPR) became in 1993 the first specialised academic structure within the Faculty of Letters, and received full accreditation in 1995. Its structure is based on the model of similar departments in universities in the United States and Western Europe. The department offers a degree after four years of study and a certificate of post graduate studies after a further two years of study.

The courses of the department are focused on:

  • professional training in the fields of public relations, sociology, psychology and management;
  • general training (courses of IT, foreign languages, history of mentalities, anthropology of communication )

    The department has as its long term objectives research and scholarly activity as well as the development of postgraduate education in the fields of communication and public relations. The department has staff with post-graduate qualifications who have had periods of study in the United States. It is part of the policy of the department that students should undertake practical placements in other sections of the university. To this purpose, a large number of scholarships have been offered to the best students. Moreover, the department has been visited by the most prestigious specialists in communication sciences and public relations in American and European universities. The department continues to expand its contacts with academics and publishers in order to provide an interdisciplinary perspective.
