Through its Degree in Pastoral Theology, the Faculty of Orthodox Theology prepares candidates for the priesthood, religious education teachers for secondary education and for high-school seminaries, university teachers, religious publishers, and staff for ecclesiastical administration.
Pastoral theology may be considered the principal degree programme in the faculty, in terms of the number of students and teaching staff as well as of its tradition. The syllabus was restructured after the integration of the faculty in the University in 1990, with a view to training future teachers of religious education.
Moral and social responsibility necessitates a system capable of ensuring the moral and intellectual formation of future priests or missionaries of the Ancient Church.
